Energy Changes: The Quiet Reason Your Energy Comes and Goes

Last winter, I noticed something I couldn’t ignore. I woke up feeling exhausted most mornings. Even small tasks felt heavy, and my motivation to do anything was almost gone. I spent more time staring at my phone than getting things done, and I found myself avoiding social plans.

I wondered if it was the winter blues or seasonal affective disorder; it was one of those periods where everything felt harder.

But then summer rolled around and I perked up, radiating energy I hadn’t felt in a while. I didn’t fully understand the shift at the time, and didn’t realize that these types of changes were more common that I thought.

Why Energy Changes

Energy can change for many reasons. Shifts can come from significant life changes like marriage,  a new baby or marital breakdown . They may also be tied to small moments like starting a new school term, moving to a new place, or reaching the end of a project. Even events in the natural world, such as changing seasons or a full moon, can also make energy feel different.

Energy can also change on a spiritual level. Certain times of year may bring moments of insight, or they may make you feel more connected to your intuition. You might feel drawn to meditation or reflection, or inspired to explore creative practices. Spiritual shifts often follow life events, encouraging you to slow down and notice what matters most.

What do when energy shifts

It’s common for these type of shifts to occur after significant life events or changes. Energy shifts aren’t necessarily a problem. Rather, they’re signals: each shift sends a message about what your inner self needs at that time.

Energy is your guiding force. At times, it could be asking you for rest. In these cases, you may decide to spend time alone to recover and reflect. You may also take extra care of your health or your spiritual practices.

Other times, it could ask for connection, movement or creative work. Then, you may feel energized and focus on exercise, work  or reaching out to friends. Understanding its signals can help you feel more connected to yourself, your purpose, and the world around you.

So the next time you feel restless, drained, or unusually focused, take a moment to notice. Your energy is moving, and it has something to tell you.
